Introduction

The City Academy exists to give every student the opportunity to go to university, choose their career and improve the world.

In terms of context 70.8% of students at City Academy are pupil premium and 16.8% of students have special educational needs. A large number of students enter CAB with below average attainment and it is gap that we are looking to close so that all of our students have the opportunity to be successful in their chosen career.

Our Key Principals

Our key principals are that:

  • All students will have the opportunity to engage with a number of external employers and post 16 pathway providers. This will enable them to make informed decisions about their next steps after leaving the Academy.
  • All students will have the opportunity to go on work experience but will also be aware of the local labour market and the skills and qualifications that they require.
  • That option choices are relevant and informed in Year 8 and that students have a range of options when leaving City Academy.
  • A culture exists where staff and students have the highest expectations and aspirations supported by parents and the local community.
